Manager Infrastructure
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and strategic Manager – Roads, Infrastructure & Essential Services to join a regional council on a fixed-term contract basis.
Reporting directly to the CEO this position plays a critical leadership role in planning, delivering, and maintaining essential infrastructure and services, including roads, utilities, and community assets.
This role is ideally suited to a senior professional who thrives in a hands-on leadership environment and is passionate about delivering meaningful outcomes for regional and remote communities.
About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading strategic and operational planning for infrastructure, roads, and essential services
• Overseeing construction, maintenance, and upgrade programs across community assets
• Managing capital works projects to ensure delivery within budget, scope, and timeframes
• Providing high-level advice to the CEO and Council on infrastructure priorities and service delivery
• Driving funding opportunities and managing external stakeholder and government relationships
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and safety standards
• Leading and developing multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high-performance culture
• Managing departmental budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation
• Building strong partnerships with community, government agencies, and stakeholders
• Ensuring continuous improvement, risk management, and service quality across all operations
About You
You are an experienced leader with a strong background in infrastructure, construction, or essential services delivery, ideally within a local government or similar environment.
You will bring:
• Demonstrated experience at senior management level
• Strong background in infrastructure, roads, or project management
• Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex programs of work
• Sound financial management and budgeting experience
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to operate strategically while remaining operationally hands-on
• Strong understanding of compliance, risk, and governance frameworks
• High-level problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously
• Cultural awareness and the ability to work effectively within remote or Indigenous communities (highly regarded)
• Current driver’s licence and ability to obtain a police clearance
